![]() |
Valentine Sun Catchers will dress up your window at home, in the class room, or makes a great Valentine’s gift for a special Valentine! This is a great craft for ages 9 years and up, however, younger kids can use pipe cleaners instead of wire to make a simpler version of this Valentine’s sun catchers. There is fun to be had by everyone! |

Valentine Beaded Sun Catcher Supplies :
- 3 feet of 20 Gauge Wire
- Pearls, Translucent, plastic or glass beads in various sizes.
- Red satin ribbon.
- Flat Nose Pliers
- Cutting Pliers

Valentine Beaded Sun Catcher Directions
- Step 1. Cut a 12″ piece of the wire and fold in half. Thread beads onto the wire to create a pattern on one side . Do the same with the other side of the wire. Thread about 4″ of beads on each side. You will now have a “V” with both ends threaded with beads.
- Step 2. Take a large bead or a heart bead. String both ends of the wire through the larger bead. Add another larger bead in a different color.
- Step 3. Use a flat nose plier to bend the two ends into a loop. Cut off excess wire with a scissor or cutting pliers. Turn ends in and fold the wire frames out to make a heart.
- Step 4. Cut off a long piece of ribbon and attach to the center of the heart. Hang using suction cups or tape.
Tip: This is a great craft to do with the entire class to decorate the class room window. Although the instructions calls for the use of flat-nose pliers (it’s easier with it), it is not absolutely necessary. I had to figure out a way to do this with 22 Fifth Graders and therefore found another method. Another option is to use a large nail instead (or a something similar). The wire is soft and thin enough to bend around a nail to form a small loop using your fingers. Just grab both wires against the side of the nail and bend the ends of the wire by curling it around it. Use scissors to cut off excess.
