Appetizers – Mussels Marinara with Ginger and Garlic

Ever since our trip to Nova Scotia, Canada and having the most delicious mussels marinara dish, I have been searching high and low for a recipe that could even come close. I couldn’t find one so this is my version of the heavy loaded garlic, ginger and scallions mussels marinara dish as I remember it. |

Mussels in Garlic Marinara Ingredients
- 24 large mussels
- 4 minced garlic cloves
- 2 tablespoons of fresh sliced ginger
- 1 cup of crushed tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon fennel seeds
- dash of hot dried crushed pepper
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- salt and pepper to taste

Mussels in Garlic Marinara Directions

Step 1. Scrub the shells of the mussels and remove their beards. Rinse under cold water.

Step 2. Drain the mussels in a colander and discard any closed shells.![]()

Step 3. Stir fry ginger in oil in a large pan. Add minced garlic until fragrant. Stir in tomato sauce and add in the mussels. Stir fry for about 10 minutes and cover for another 10 minutes to let the mussels cook thoroughly.
