Ladybug Hop Game

This Ladybug Hop game is played much like the traditional musical chair game. Use the flower and leaf mats as floor mats and landing spots for this ladybug party game after cake time. Add in the ladybug wands from the kids’ craft session, ladybug tiaras, and all you need is some upbeat music for some wiggling, giggling fun during your Ladybug Birthday Party! Ladybug Party Game : Fly and Hop Game Supplies
- Flower Place Mats or just small pieces of vinyl mats cut to shape. You will need enough mats for all kids to play or divide the kids into groups of e.g. 10 if the group is too large. The number needed is one less than the number of kids who will be playing the game at one time since the game is pretty much played like musical chairs.
- Fun, upbeat music or pick out a few selections from the Ladybug Themed Songs
together with other upbeat songs
- Small favor prizes (optional)

Ladybug Party Game: Fly and Hop Game Directions

Step 1. Make flower petal place mats for your ladybug party table and use them afterwards for this game as floor mats or seat cushions. When the party is over, perhaps let kids take the mats home with their ladybug wand as favors. They could be used as a little “sit upons” outdoors or for a special spot in a reading nook somewhere.

Step 2. This game is played like musical chairs but instead we use the flower petal mats. The reason kids of all ages love this game is because the rules are simple, it involves gross motor movements, and music. To make being “out” not so disappointing, give out little prizes when kids have to leave the game.

Step 3. Use the ladybug wand made during Ladybug Wand Craft time as part of the game. Have the kids wave the wand as they dance about and let the ribbons move about with them. Lotta fun!

To play: Scatter the mats all over. Make sure there is one less mat than there are kids playing. Give each person a ladybug tiara and use the ladybug wands the kids made during craft time as part of the dress up. Play some fun, upbeat music, maybe incorporate a ladybug song here and there, and let the kids flutter about. Call out the words “HOP” at random, and kids have to hop when they hear that word. When you stop the music abruptly without notice, each child needs to find a flower floor mat to call “home”. The one person that is left without a “home” will be out. Award a small trinket as consolation prize. Continue playing until there is only one person left. This person is the winner and gets a larger prize.
