Scary Popcorn Hand and Treat Bag
![]() |
Put together this fun, creepy crawly popcorn hand as an activity for a Kids Halloween Party. Another option is to make an entire arm by creating a sleeve out of old pillowcases, to give them an “extra hand” during trick-or-treating! Pun intended! The sleeve doubles as a trick-or-treating bag. We made it for my son’s Halloween Class Party for the entire class a few years ago. The kids loved it! |

Halloween Hand and Treat Bag Craft Instructions (1)
Popcorn Hand Treat
- 1 Clear Plastic Disposable Glove
(from Restaurant Supply Stores) - 5 Candy Corn
- 1 cup Popcorn, if making fresh let cool completely
- 1 Spider Ring
- 1 Twistie
- 1 Halloween themed ribbon, about 6″
Optional ( for older kids or kids with help of adults):
- 1 old pillow case
- safety pins
Tip: For the classroom, I made all the bags ahead of time since the kids did not have access to sewing machines and they were too young to do any sewing. (Grades 1-3).

Halloween Hand and Treat Bag Craft Directions (1)

Step 1. Supplies needed for your Scary Halloween Hand.

Step 2. Fill the plastic disposable Glove with candy corn for the nails. Then fill the rest with popcorn and close off with twistie. Add the decorative ribbon. Your Scary Halloween Treat Bag is now done. Makes great party favors for your Halloween Party.
To make a full arm, continue with the following steps.

Step 3. Take an old pillow case and cut in half, length-wise. Sew seam of the edges together to make a long bag. With the extra materials, sew a strap for the shoulder and attach to the sides of the bag. Now you have a long bag with a handle.
Place the bag right side out and seams on the inside in front of you (like in the picture). For the bottom of the bag, I created a mock hem of about 2″, by folding the bottom inwards by using my fingers to push the bottom of the bag in. Iron the hem flat so that it stays in place. Stitch the hem in place all around the bottom of the bag, about 1 1/2″ from the bottom of the hem. The reason for this is to create a cavity in the bottom so that I could pin the hand in place without showing the pins, etc.

Step 4. Using the safety pins, pin the hand to the bottom or edge of the inside of the hem. The popcorn hand is very light and will stay attached with 1 or 2 safety pins. Have the kids wear the arm using the shoulder strap and use the sleeve bag as their trick-or-treating bag. Some kids also used it to shake hands, and to greet homeowners.

Step 5. Dress up you hand by adding spider or skull rings, glow in the dark bracelets, etc.
