Giant Spider Cupcakes are perfect for Halloween parties, Fear Factor, Bug Party or Spiderman Theme parties. For party table decor, decorate with spiderweb netting available at Halloween Party stores. Then find mini cake stands in various heights and put Giant Spider cakes at various levels. Add plastic spider rings as added Halloween party props. Kids love these spider cakes, especially when they find out that the Spider Cupcakes are made out of Tootsie Roll candy, icing, cake and are completely edible! |
Giant Spider Cupcake
Spider Cupcake – Supplies (1):
- 1 cupcake
- vanilla icing
- chocolate icing
- orange food coloring gel
- red food coloring gel
- 2 Tootsie Rolls
- Toothpick
Spider Cupcake Instructions:
- Ice the cupcake with orange icing.
- Use chocolate icing to create 3 concentric circles on top of the cupcake, each one smaller than the other.
- Use a toothpick to gently pull a line from the center through the concentric lines towards the outer edge. Clean the toothpick and repeat again until you have created a web.
- Cut a Tootsie Roll into two pieces. One piece larger than the other. Microwave for 5 seconds and use your hands to form 2 balls, one smaller than the other. Make the larger one more oval and use that as the body of the spider.
- Cut another Tootsie Roll into 8 small pieces and microwave the pieces for about 5 seconds to soften. Rub the small pieces of candy in between your hands to smooth out and to form long legs.
- Position the spider’s body on top of the cupcake and bend legs around the body.
- Use red icing to create a design on the back of the spider.
Step 2. Create 3 concentric circles using chocolate icing.
Step 4. Create spiderweb cupcake using a toothpick Step 5. Create the body of the spider with 1 Tootsie Roll and create legs out of another. To smooth and thin legs, rub in between hands until long and thin legs form.
Step 7. Create a design on the back of the spider with red icing.
