Football Birthday Party Cup Cake : Supplies
- Baked cupcakes in your flavor of choice
- Icing
- Sugar paste or fondant ready to use
- Coloring gel
- Toothpicks
- Marble Rolling pin
- Smallest flower cutter from the Flower Making Set
- Football cookie cutter
- White icing
- Powdered sugar (for dusting the counter top)

Football Birthday Party Cup Cake: Directions

Step 1. Take fondant out of the package and break off a piece. We will be coloring the fondant green by using coloring gel.
First we use tooth picks to add a small amount to our fondant. After each addition we knead and twist to mix. This will take about 5-10 minutes until you have the right color for the cupcake. We are looking for a bright green for the grass color.

Step 2. Once we have achieved the right intensity, roll out the fondant on a smooth surface using a heavy duty Marble Rolling pin. The heavy marble rolling pin allows the fondant to be rolled out evenly and smoothly due to its weight and the smoothness of the marble does not allow for the fondant to stick. Make sure you do have some powdered sugar on hand to powder the surface to prevent the fondant from sticking to the counter top.
Ice the cupcakes with your favorite icing. Cut out large circles out of the fondant and place on top of the cupcake. Using your finger tips, press down on the edges of the fondant to flatten and to smooth out the edges.

Step 4. Use football shape cutters to cut out mini footballs. I used a triangular shaped cutter since I didn’t have a football cookie cutter which worked just fine. Use whatever you have!

Step 5. Here I used a moon shape cutter to make the football helmets. The bottom of the sugar paste is powdered sugar to prevent the fondant from sticking to the counter top. Cut out a small piece for the mouth guard of the helmet. Use white icing to place two dots on the side of the helmet.

Step 6. Cut out small flowers using a miniature cutter. Using the ball tool tip, smooth out the edges. Place a white dot of icing in the middle. Let dry completely. It will harden once dried.![]()

Step 7. Make pennants by cutting out colored paper into miniature triangles and gluing toothpicks to the back. Pipe white lacing using white icing onto the football. Let dry. Once everything is hardened, place cupcake decorations on top of the birthday cupcakes and secure in place with small dabs of icing.
