Easy Hawaiian Luau Party Food, Drinks and Snacks

Try these easy-to-make recipes for your Hawaiian Luau Party. Not only are they delicious, but they are colorful and capture the essence of summer with fresh fruits and Macadamia nuts. Luau Ham and Glazed Pineapple Snacks
These delicious skewers of ham and marmalade-glazed fruit are perfect for your luau party. Easy to make and looks great with a decorated toothpick (silk flowers or Luau Umbrella Parasol Picks ). Just poke them into a pineapple and this snack can double as a centerpiece and be eaten too! (Makes about 36 servings).
Recipe:
- 1 can of 15 1/4 ounce of pineapple chunks
- 1/4 cup orange marmalade
- 6 ounces thinly sliced cooked ham, cut into 4×1/2 inch strips
- Wooden toothpicks that have decorated ends like flowers or umbrellas, or other festive theme
- 1 jar of 10 ounce maraschino cherries
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, toss the pineapple chunks (drained) in the orange marmalade and coat.
- Thread a cherry (drained) through a toothpick or skewer.
- Wrap a ham string around each pineapple chunk.
- Then thread each wrapped pineapple on the toothpick.
- Take a pineapple to use as a base. If the pineapple is unsteady, you may need to cut 1/4 of the bottom off to create a stable base.
- Place pineapple onto a festive plate. Poke all skewers into the pineapple.
- Cover and chill for up to 2 hours. Served chilled.
- Another option: If you prefer to serve this as a warm snack, warm the skewers instead of chilling them in the oven on 325 degrees for about 30 minutes and serve immediately.
Tropical Fruit Salad

chill: 2 hours
- 1 medium mango, seeded peeled and cubed
- 11 ounces mandarin orange sections, drained
- 2 kiwis peeled, halved lengthwise and sliced
- 1 cup tiny marshmallows
- 8 ounces carton vanilla yogurt
- 3 bananas, peeled and halved lengthwise
- 1/2 cup toasted coconut
Combine all the fruit in a bowl, together with the marshmallows and the yogurt. Cover and chill for 2-4 hours. When ready to serve, cut each banana half crosswise into 2 pieces. For each banana half, cut lengthwise again to split the banana. Place 2 banana pieces on a dessert plate. Stir half of the coconut into the fruit mixture. Then spoon on top of the bananas. Sprinkle the remaining coconut on top. Drizzle with honey on top. Makes 6 servings.

Macadamia Nut-Crusted Chicken with Honey-Mustard Dip

This is a great make ahead chicken that is baked, non-greasy with a bit of a sweet taste from the honey. Kids and adults alike will love this one. Easy to prepare ahead of time and store in the fridge until 1 hour before serving. Pop in the oven and it’s ready for serving without the mess during party time!
- Nonstick cooking spray
- 2-3 pounds of chicken drumsticks, skinless
- 1 1/2 cups herb-seasoned stuffing mix, crushed
- 3 1/2 ounce jar macadamia nuts finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 3 tbs milk
- 1 tsp soya sauce
- 2 tbs honey
- 3 tbs butter, melted
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly coat 15×10x1 inch pan with cooking spray.
- In a shallow pan, stir together nuts and the stuffing mix. In a small bowl, combine the milk, 2 tbs honey, 1 tsp soya sauce, and the milk.
- Dip chicken into the mixture and then into crumb mixture to coat. Place in the pan. Drizzle with melted butter.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes. Do not turn chicken when baking.
Honey Mustard Dip:
- 1/2 cup mayonaise
- 4 tsp mustard
- 1 tbs honey
Combine mayo, mustard, and 1 tbs honey. Mix well and serve with the chicken.
Other Kids Friendly Snacks for a Hawaiian Luau Party
Have plenty of snacks and treats on hand for munching especially if the party is attended by lots of kids or is a kids party.

- Milk and White Chocolate in the shape of fish and various shell shapes
- Gold fish crackers
- Pirate booty
- Swedish Fish and other Gummy candy in the shape of shells, stars, etc.
- Limbo Pretzel Sticks (Straight Pretzel sticks)
- Macadamia Nuts (check for allergies first of guests attending)
- Cut up chunks of cold pineapple. Serve using Flower toothpicks.
- Serve grille Pork Kabobs with fresh veggies on a skewer. These are always a hit with kids and teens since it’s festive looking and easy to eat.
Hawaiian Luau Drinks
Hawaiian Lemonade
Serve this sweet, bubbly drink in pretty festive glasses wrapped with flowers, and garnish with paper umbrella straws, or Flower Straws, wedge of orange and cherry. A must for a Hawaiian Luau Party!
- 1/2 of a 12 ounce can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
- 12 ounce can apricot nectar, chilled
- 12 ounce can unsweetened pineapple juice, chilled
- 1 1/4 cups of ginger ale (chilled)
In a large punch bowl, combine all juices with 3/4 cup of cold water. Slowly add the ginger ale down the side of the bowl. Stir gently to mix. Add ice cubes. Decorate with slices of lime and grapes. Makes 6 servings. For added fun, serve in a Tropical Coconut Cup.
