Fried Plantain

Hawaiian Luau Party Drinks
Plantains are a type of banana that is commonly found in Hawaii.  It is a staple food for the Tropical regions in the world and eaten as a starch and side dish. Plantains can be eaten when they are under-ripe or green.  It then becomes more of a potato-like starch with a hint of sweetness.  When the skin is black, and the inside feel soft, the plantain is over-ripe (but not rotten).  If you fry it at this point it will be super sweet and delicious.  To prepare, slice and fry in about 2 tablespoon of oil until lightly brown.
